Prehistoric Era
When music arose on earth, we do not know exactly, but we know for certain that it was a very long time ago, many thousands of years ago.
Even in ancient times, many legends and myths about the origin of music were created. The ancient Greeks believed that music was given to them by the gods.
Scientists, on the basis of archaeological and ethnographic studies, have established that music appeared in primitive society.
For ancient people, it was associated with their daily lives. Women sang, cradling children, shepherds called the herd with the sound of horns, warlike exclamations plunged enemies into horror.
Music, its rhythm and melody had a strong emotional impact on a person. What was the primitive music, we do not know, but probably not very pleasant.
It had a lot of mimicing the sounds around them: in the songs of primitive people, the sounds of the world around them were imitated - the cries of wild animals and birds.
The main priority of primitive music was rhythm.
Rhythm helped people to clearly perform movements during work. The singers emphasized the rhythm by clapping their hands or stamping their feet. Later, people noticed that rhythmic loud sounds are made by flat stones, pieces of wood, and shells when struck. They became the first musical instruments.
African tribes still have huge drums made from a hollow tree trunk, smaller drums made from dried pumpkins, as well as horns, shells - the prototypes of modern percussion and wind instruments.
