Carnival is a holiday where everyone must change their appearance. You can wear a mask, a carnival costume or just decorate yourself. The main thing is not to recognize you. The carnival to which I invite you will be quite unusual. Firstly, this is a carnival not of people, but of animals. Secondly, he is musical. This means that we will not see all of his characters, but will hear, because the music created by the French composer Camille Saint-Saens will tell us.

ANIMALS

The piece is called "Carnival of the Animals" Our animals will also be wearing masks, but the masks are unusual - musical ones.

And so it began...

CARNIVAL-OF-THE-ANIMALS.jpg

In the Saint-Saens suite, the carnival opens with the

"Royal March of the Lion".

The music is solemn, calm, majestic, proud - draws the image of a strong

and intelligent predator

A bold and stately introduction, fit for the king of the

jungle.
Piano tremolos with dark and brooding strings open the introduction

before a dramatic piano glissando heralds the arrival of the roaring ruler.

Hens and Roosters

Persistent pecking is immediately brought to mind when the piano and violins begin their incessant staccato quavers, interrupted by irregular chirrups.

The two pianos pass between them a parody of the rooster’s ‘cock-a-doodle-doo’, and stretched out scratchy string glissandos mimic the cooing and braying of the hens.

The Elephant

The "Portrait" of an elephant from the famous suite "Carnival of the Animals" by C. Saint-Saens

was written with low sounds of double basses. Elephant dancing the waltz.

In the low sounds of double basses, we involuntarily imagine the movement of some huge

creature.

The double bass is the largest and lowest sounding representative of the violin family.

Kangaroos

The "Kangaroo" depicts the image of an animal very vividly. How many times did the kangaroo

stop and listen?

fussy kangaroo jumps are depicted at the piano with the help of grace notes, a staccato stroke

and pauses that separate the sounds of a short theme.

Aquarium

What is the nature of the music? What is she painting?

From the Australian desert to the depths of the ocean, Saint-Saens’ Aquarium effortlessly

captures the beauty and wonder of the underwater world.

The twinkling high notes of the piano and glass harmonica, the pure and open tone of the flute,

and the shimmery mystical sound of muted strings all come together to wash over the listener in a stream of swirling notes.

The Swan

Perhaps the most famous of the 14 movements and certainly the most graceful, Saint-Saëns couldn’t stay away from writing beautiful melodies for too long.

he music of the "Swan" is very gentle, calm - it draws the image of a beautiful, proud bird.
