Acquaintance with the concept of
tonality and scale in music.
You are already familiar with major and minor scales in music.
The name of the key in music is made up of:
- the name of the sound from which the musical mode takes
- names of the musical mode (major, minor)
The first degree of the scale is the base and is called the tonic. From the name of the tonic comes the name of the key.
Exercise 1:
Rewrite the scale pattern in C major. Label the steps in Roman numerals.
Exercise 2 : Sing the C major scale up and down using "do, re, mi "
Exercise 3 :
In music, not all beats are the same:
There are strong and weak beats.
A different combination of strong and weak beats forms a meter. It can be different: 2/4, 3/4, 4/4, etc.
The first note in a musical measure is always a strong beat.
A major key built from C is called C major. If the sounds are arranged sequentially from C to C, you get a scale in C major. The sounds of the scale are called scale steps (scale degrees) and are indicated by numbers.
